SPECTATOR INFORMATION

BEST SPECTATING LOCATIONS

Whether you are traveling from afar or walking down from your house, spectators play an important part in our community centered race. From the runners who have “hit-the- wall” to those cruising for a personal best record, every one of them needs and appreciates the spectator’s support.  So, stop down by the shoreline to clap, yell, ring that cowbell, or play some pump-up tunes!

Besides the start/finish area at UW Green Bay-Manitowoc Campus and the turn-around at Sandy Bay Pizza, the course passes several parks, as well as five scenic overlooks of Lake Michigan along the Mariners Trail which runs between Manitowoc and Two Rivers.

Celebrate with the runners from  8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Finish Line Festival at UW Green Bay-Manitowoc Campus, 705 Viebahn St, Manitowoc, WI 54220.

Enjoy food, beverages, and ice cream!  Free for runners and available for purchase by spectators.

VOLUNTEERS

Volunteers are the lifeblood of the Maritime Marathon. Simply put, the event can't go on without them! Each year, literally hundreds generously donate their time to make this wonderful community event happen. Their reward is nothing more than a free event t-shirt and the smiles on the faces of the participants that pass by.

For the first 9 years, volunteer coordinator, Mark Klaiber recruited hundreds of volunteers to donate their time to make possible this wonderful community event that would provide a sizeable donation to one local charity each year.

In the 10th year, the committee presented the idea to each of the local charities to handle the 10 aide stations as a fund raiser that their charity can benefit from each year. The charities were excited about this opportunity. Mark has since retired from the committee and was replaced by Lori Joas.
